The Poddington Peas (1989)
The Poddington Peas is a British animated series for children, created by Paul Needs and Colin Wyatt, consisting of 13 episodes that premiered on the BBC in 1989. The catchy theme song portrays the peas residing “down at the bottom of the garden,” where oversized garden items, like flipped flower pots, serve as their homes. Humans are never depicted or referenced in the show. In 1992, writer Phil Gardner joined Poddington plc to craft new episodes, including one aimed at introducing the series in the USA, featuring a fresh cast of characters known as the Bugz, although these episodes were ultimately never released. Additionally, paperback books by Paul Needs, illustrated by Colin Wyatt, were published by Box Tree / Award Publications, with new titles and merchandise scheduled for release in 2013.
