The Land (1970)

2h 10m 1970 HD

In 1933, the mayor announces a controversial decision: the irrigation rights for the peasants' land will now be shared with the feudal lord, Mahmoud Bey. In response, the peasants commission Mohamed Effendi to deliver a petition to the government, seeking justice. However, Mahmoud Bey counters with a proposal for a project that threatens to seize portions of the peasants' land, intensifying the struggle between the oppressive feudal system and the oppressed farmers desperate to protect their livelihoods. Tensions rise as both sides navigate power and survival in a changing landscape.
