The Red Badge of Courage (1951)

Henry Fleming, a young soldier in the Union army during the Civil War, grapples with fear as he flees his first battle. Stricken with shame after hearing of his unit's victory, he fabricates a story of injury to cover his cowardice from his friend Tom and fellow troops.
