The Discarnates (1988)

Successful screenwriter Harada faces an emotional crisis when his best friend reveals plans to propose to Harada's ex-wife. Grappling with feelings of inadequacy as a husband and father, he seeks solace at a Rakugo performance. During the show, a warm audience member invites him over, sparking Harada's bewilderment. The man bears an uncanny resemblance to Harada's deceased parents, who tragically passed away when he was just twelve.
