In 1968, art students Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell created a surreal photo collage for their musician friends Syd Barrett, David Gilmour, and Roger Waters. This collaboration birthed the album cover for Pink Floyd's A Saucerful of Secrets, igniting the band's ascent to fame. Simultaneously, it marked the beginning of Hipgnosis's journey, a design studio that would go on to craft a series of memorable album covers over the next quarter-century, solidifying their place in music history and influencing the visual art of the rock genre.
