Sergio Benvenuto
Sergio Benvenuto was born in Naples in 1948 and has built a multifaceted career as an Italian psychoanalyst, philosopher, and writer. He spent much of his academic life as a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC) of the CNR in Rome. In recognition of his expertise, he was named Professor Emeritus of Psychoanalysis at the International Institute of Depth Psychology in Kiev, an institution twinned with the University of Nice.
Among his most significant contributions is the founding of the *European Journal of Psychoanalysis* in 1995, which he has edited ever since. The journal has become a key platform for contemporary psychoanalytic thought. Benvenuto’s work bridges clinical practice with philosophical inquiry, and his writings often explore the intersections of psychoanalysis, culture, and politics. He has published numerous essays and books that have been translated into several languages, solidifying his reputation as a distinctive voice in European intellectual circles.
