Ahmed Moneka

Ahmed Moneka is a versatile artist with a rich cultural heritage, born in Baghdad and currently residing in Toronto. As an Afro-Iraqi, he draws profound inspiration from his roots, which he actively celebrates and preserves through his diverse artistic endeavors in acting, music, and writing. Ahmed's work often emphasizes themes of unity and harmony, reflecting his belief that these values are essential to all artistic pursuits.

His educational journey began in Baghdad, where he honed his craft at the Institute of Fine Art and later at the esteemed Academy of Fine Art. Ahmed made history as the first Black Iraqi television host and became the youngest member of the Iraqi National Theatre. Notably, he portrayed Romeo in a production of "Romeo and Juliet" at the Royal Shakespeare Company in England, a testament to his exceptional talent.

One of his notable achievements includes co-writing and starring in "The Society," a film that made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film's daring exploration of homosexuality led to Ahmed's exile from Iraq, showcasing his commitment to addressing important social issues through art. With his unique perspective and creative vision, Ahmed Moneka continues to make significant contributions to the Canadian entertainment landscape.
